Dendritic Opal Rings

Two pretty little Dendritic Opal rings that are the same only different.

These dendritic opals are irregularly shaped and faceted to catch the light as they move around. They are slightly transparent letting you see the tree branch like inclusions within them. And like other opals or Labradorites, they flash little bits of colour at just the right angle. 

Both rings are made of sterling silver with textured bands and an oxidized finish to high light all of those details.

Ring A is framed flush to the stone with a heavily textured ring band. Ring B has a small frame around the base of the stone, a lightly textured ring band and if you look close there is an orange high light within the stone. The colour flash is difficult to photograph. The rings here have a bit more colour in them than you see here.

Gemologists use the word “dendrites” to refer to tree-like markings on a gemstone or rock. When an opal or any gemstone displays tree-like inclusion patterns, gemologists call it a “dendritic” variety of that stone. In the spiritual community, dendritic opals hold potent magical properties, often used for healing physical, emotional, and spiritual ailments.

*Materials: Sterling Silver, .999 Fine Silver, Oxidized

*Measuring: Ring A: Size 6 1/2, stone size is .54" across the band x .49" top to bottom.

                   : Ring B: Size 7, stone size is .57" across the band / .63" with the frame x .53" top to                                 bottom / .59" with the frame.

*Oxidization is not completely permanent! The earrings will change in appearance over time, especially with daily wear. While it has received a chemical application of Liver of Sulfur as a surface treatment, it will wear off in the high areas over time causing a patina that is unique to the piece.
