Ties That Bind
I chose one of my Husbands ties as the inspiration for this new necklace as part of the "Embracing The Tie" show at the Art Gallery Of Regina as part of a challenge from the Jewellery Artists Guild of Regina.
The front and back of the pendant is pierced sterling silver that mimics the pattern in the tie itself. This also allows for a see through effect as the centre of the pendant is a clear acrylic with a light scattering of glitter with an aurora borealis colouring to it.
The two layers of silver are riveted together with the clear acrylic in the middle. When worn the clear acrylic allows the pendant to take on any colour of fabric that it lays against.
There is a light texture on the facings of the front and back and then an oxidized finish giving the silver a shiny black colouring.
This pendant comes with a 24" sterling silver necklace chain that has also been given the same oxidized finish as the pendant to match.
There are earrings in the final picture that were made as a partner to the pendant. You can find them in the Earring Category entitled "Bound & Bent".
*Materials: Sterling Silver, Acrylic, Oxidized, 24: Sterling Silver Necklace Chain
*Measurements: To Follow
*Oxidized finishes are not completely permanent! The pendants will change in appearance, especially with daily wear. While it has received a chemical application of Liver of Sulfur as a surface treatment, it will wear off in the high areas over time causing a patina that is unique to each piece.
