Take Flight Pendant/Necklace
Saturday October 30th 2021 was Truth & Reconciliation Day in Canada. A time to reflect the past, the present and the future of our First Nations Communities. I have been holding onto my new feather stamp waiting for just the right project and it finally spoke to me that Saturday. A single flight feather allowing you to take flight.
This new pendant is titled "Take Flight" and is dedicated to the children of the Residential Schools and to the discovery of all the little children who were unceremoniously lost to time and history and have only now been found.
The stars on this pendant represent the lost children, while the pierced birds represent those who have finally been found and their souls are now taking flight. The large star on the back side of the pendant is for all of us who are here to help hold up those who cannot stand on their own. The orange Fire Opal Swarovski Crystal set at the bottom is in honour of Phyllis Jack Webstad and her stolen orange shirt, https://www.orangeshirtday.org/phyllis-story.html
The pendants are given a final oxidized finish to show off it's details. Each pendant will be made on a custom order basis with each one looking the same only different as the stars and birds will be placed randomly on each new pendant to allow for each one to be uniquely different from the next.
$50.00 from each pendant sold today and going forward will be donated to The Indigenous Christian Fellowship of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. ICF is a Canadian urban ministry serving the spiritual and social needs of Indian and Metis people of Regina, Sask.
Each pendant ordered is hand crafted one at a time as ordered and will have variations in the design placement. Delivery on these pendants will be 2-3 weeks.
*Materials: Sterling Silver, Swarovski Crystal, Oxidization, 20" Sterling Silver Necklace Chain.
*Measurements: 15/16" wide x 1 1/2" long
*Oxidized finishes are not completely permanent! The earrings will
change in appearance, especially with daily wear. While it has received
a chemical application of Liver of Sulfur as a surface treatment, it
will wear off in the high areas over time causing a patina that is
unique to each piece.
Take Flight is made possible with the use of tools from 3 other artists. Thank you to Meesh Barlow (stars) and Daniel Urrea (feather) for their amazing hand made stamps and to Chris Pruitt for his star shot plate (star on the backside) that allowed me to create this pendant.
